Day Habilitation

The Hawthorne Foundation Day Habilitation Program serves adults over eighteen years of age with autism and other developmental disabilities from Westchester County and the Bronx.  We offer both site-based (With Walls) and community-based (Without Walls) programs.

Programming is designed to optimize personal development through educational, recreational / leisure, and integration activities based upon individual interests, strengths, and needs. Staff provide support with academic (i.e., reading, writing, etc.), vocational (i.e., clerical, housekeeping, etc.) and safety skills (i.e., socially appropriate behavior, problem solving, etc.).

Community Integration / Inclusion

We encourage our individuals to become integrated into his / her community. We assist them by providing them with the necessary skills to become contributing members of those communities.

Hawthorne Day Hab strives for least restrictive environments, where individuals can develop a greater sense of self from hard work and dedication to succeed. Over the past few years, we have had great success with the development of our Without Walls program and Community Inclusion groups. Our individuals have been able to maintain volunteer jobs in a variety of vocational settings. They have also demonstrated the ability to perform a wide variety of tasks and job duties that help display versatility in a number of other locations.
